Special to The Log

The Destin Desserts chefs’ competition showcases the best local chefs competing for the title of champion by creating original desserts using Girl Scout cookies as the main ingredient. Now in its third year, the 2014 Destin Desserts competition will be held Jan. 17 at the Links Ballroom, Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, 9300 U.S. Hwy. 98 West in Miramar Beach. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m., and includes social hour, heavy hors d'oeuvres, dessert tasting and voting, awards, silent auction and entertainment by Shades of Blue.

Sponsored by Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, Okaloosa Heart & Vascular Center, and On the Coast Magazine, this year’s line-up promises a menu of delectable and unique desserts to tempt your taste buds.

The reigning Destin Desserts Champion, Chef Jim Shirah of Dewey Destin Harbor Side Restaurant, will serve as the head judge. Competing this year will be:
